The survey was conducted in October 2021 by distributing questionnaires to hunters who were registering in the hunter registration agency, and collecting them on the spot after being filled out by the hunters themselves. A total of 540 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and 447 were collected. The results of the survey revealed the following. First, 70.8％ of all hunters were in their 60s or older, and only 8.9％ were in their 30s or younger. Since many hunters will retire from hunting in the near future, securing and training new hunters is considered an urgent task. Second, the overwhelming majority of hunters are licensed for first category gun hunting, and trap hunting. Farmers capture wild boars and bears as a pest control measure either because of actual damage to agricultural products or at their request, both within and beyond the hunting season. Non-farmers hunt pheasants, copper pheasants, and ducks for leisure and private consumption during the hunting season. Third, 90.4％ of hunters are interested in the training of young hunters. More than half of the hunters discuss with their family, friends, and other close relations about hunting and allow them to observe hunting in order to encourage the participation of new hunters. However, 37.7％ of hunters do not carry out any promoting activity.
