内容記述 | Abstract:There are three small islands (Himakajima, Shinojima, Sakujima) off the Chita Peninsula, south of Nagoya city. Himakajima is the smallest one; however, most of the population and prosperity count on tour business. Besides, Himakajima has preserved the traditional rites of passage better than other islands. The simplicity of Rite passage has not been influenced by depopulation but by time change. In the beginning, the place of delivery and death was from the residents' own houses to hospitals. Then, the place of wedding ceremony from their own houses on the island was shifted to the off-island wedding ceremony hall. Furthermore, the prosperity from tour business has made some culture exchanges more active with off- island's people. Thus, the traditional rites of passage eventually become Urbanization. Wedding ceremonies have been changed dramatically. On the other hand, Yakubarai (the ceremony to scare away evil spirits) and funeral ceremony have had slight changes. According to the interviews, most of the islanders in Himakajima are Fisherman, who is always facing a lot of life danger. In addition, islanders helped each other instead of funeral company during the funeral ceremony. There is one feature coming out from the questionnaire. The ceremony regarding celebrating long-life almost doesn't exist in Himakajima. The ceremony of celebrating long-life is considered as the Yakubarai. | |||||
